We have a small women's grassroots chapter in Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation on Manitoulin Island called Waibejawong Anishinabekwe that was created by my mother Linda Thibodeau. My sister & I have continued to keep this chapter alive after her passing in 2010 through years of underfunding (none), change in membership, and lack of interest. We struggle, but we prevail year after year. I am also the Family Well-Being Program Coordinator for my First Nation, happily married, and the proud mother of 4 children and 2 canines, and grandmother of 3.
