Ahnii! Kellie King nkizhnakaz, Migizi Dodem, Wasauksing Doonjebai My roots are with Wasauksing First Nation, but I spent my childhood/early teen years in the GTA and Barrie/Simcoe. Since moving home at 17 (30 years ago), I have spent my time working for my community and the surrounding First Nations of highway 69/400. I am trained in Indigenous Early Childhood Education and Social Work (ECE and BSW), I'm looking into taking another plunge, to attain an MSW. Honestly my passion is the visual arts, anything creative, anything where I can master a skill. When I was a child, there was soooo many things I wanted to be "when I grow up" and funny, no kids! Well I became an Early Childhood Educator, ran our community Daycare, had 1 child and I have 1 granddaughter, the sun in my orbit. We all live together, my son and my granddaughter, Sophia-Rose. She is 8 years and goes to the same Daycare and School her Dad went to here, on Wasauksing First Nation. The past 10 years, I have been running our community Home Support program for the elderly, vulnerable and disabled. This has been an eye opening experience along with looking after my (now deceased) parents and my big sister (from Cancer during this Pandemic). I feel like I have come full circle in terms of working with all the stages of life in my community. I've also spent lots of time understanding who I am, who my family is, our backgrounds, our Community history and how we have coped with colonization. This has helped to understand my parents experiences with Residential Schools, the Child Welfare experience and Addictions. My current title also has me working and supporting the youth and adults of our community experiencing Violence and Health Challenges. Miigwech
