I have been president of our group for a year, and have served on the BOD for ONWA in previous years. I work in the women's crisis shelter in Dryden as a front line worker for 32 years. I am a mother of 3 and grandmother to 7 children. My hobby is quilting and taking mini workshops on getting healthy. Hoping to retire in the next few months.

This talk will present the traditional teachings of the Anishinaabeg as a means of developing
interconnectedness and interdependence. The seven grandfather teachings, the sacred law
of the Anishinaabeg, show us how to lead Mino-bimaadiziwin ‘the good life' a life of
without contradiction or conflict, a life of peace and balance.

A power point presentation that provides a brief narrative of the many uses for wigwas (birch bark) and our sacred medicines. We will also have a video of Al Hunter demonstrating how to harvest wigwas that they can bring back to their communities as a educational component. Participants will learn through a hands-on experience of making birch bark earrings with porcupine quills.

During this session participants will have a deeper understanding of life balance and the importance of finding balance in your life. We will be reviewing ways this can be achieved within the 4 areas of yourself: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Participants will use and learn about the gem stones related to our Mother Earth and creating a mala as a reminder to ensure balance within ourself.
